7 Things You’ve Forgotten to Clean in Your Home

Add these to your spring cleaning list!

The Air Vents and Bathroom Vents

Things like vents, filters, and exhausts are often those “out of sight” areas of your home, yet they do the heavy lifting of pulling airborne grease from the kitchen or removing steam from your bathroom. Without regular cleaning, dust, mold, and grime can build up and a clogged filter can cause more harm than good to your home and even family health over time.

Light Fixtures and Fans

If you have fans in your home, you want to make sure your fans are not moving around dust as well. While you’re at it, it’s a great time to dust un-noticed areas like the tops of door frames and make those light fixtures shine. You can even place most glass shades and globes inside your dishwasher to wash them super easily!

Rotate and Clean Your Mattress

The changing of seasons is a great time to give your attention to a few tasks in your home that you usually put off, like cleaning and rotating your mattress. In fact, it’s recommended to rotate your mattress quarterly!

While you’re in the cleaning mode, you might as well deodorize that place you lay your head every night and give it a good cleaning as well.

Don’t Forget the Blinds

Blinds tend to be one of those places in the home that are a little out of sight, and if you tend to leave them open, you won’t really notice the dust settling there. Needless to say, wipe those blinds down.

Sanitize Curtains and Linens

Sanitizing curtains and linens is essential for maintaining a clean and healthy living environment. Over the winter months, dust, allergens, and bacteria can accumulate on those surfaces, potentially exacerbating allergies and respiratory issues. Sanitizing curtains and linens helps remove built-up dirt, dust mites, and other allergens, promoting better indoor air quality and reducing the risk of illness.

Freshen Garbage Cans

Naturally, garbage cans get filthy just because of the nature of what they do…they collect and hold garbage! Unpleasant odours can linger, even after the trash has been taking out, whether it’s from spills, drips or hidden grime. While the temperatures are rising, give them a thorough washing with a bit of dish soap or a spray of vinegar solution and then a good spray down from the hose before drying completely in the sun.

Sort Through Your Supplies

It’s a good time to weed through cleaning supplies and use up those almost-empty containers and sort through cleaning rags…but many times we forget to really take care of the tools that help us maintain and clean our homes. When we do, they last longer and give us a better clean.
